Phecda Laser Engraver & Cutter

So I bought the 10w laser engraver directly from elegoo because they no longer make the 20w laser and the setup was diabolical. I had to go and look at around 20-30 videos/ forums/ etc. It took 3 days of back and forth to get this thing to line up and I had to remake a hole from scratch because the hole from the factory didn’t fit the screw properly.(If you have never done this with aluminum it’s quite difficult to do.)I don’t know if anyone else has had to do this but it’s a real pain in the backside. Their instructions are abysmal at best. Their app doesn’t connect to the laser either. What a waste of money. At this point I’m probably just going to throw it in the trash where it belongs.

Been using the laser for a couple of months now and liking it more every day. it works great. I added the Geeks-at-large limit switches, a rotary device, and a camera. Engraving rock slate wood and various other materials, It works like a champ.

I just got the Phecda 10watt laser engraver/cutter. I had planned on getting the package 2 but must have not clicked the correct box as I got the package 1. It was easy to assemble and set up. I use lightburn as it is user friendly and just works. I have used Elegoo products for a while now and I am impressed. I have the stem kits and a Centauri Carbon. all work as they should the Centauri Carbon mis a work horse. This seems to be a god unit as well only used it for a few days but love it so far. As I stated wish I looked closer and checked the correct box as i wanted the package 2 but the unit works great and seems to be built well.

I have only owned two lasers, this one and the Two Trees 20W. I like the Elegoo much better. It cuts faster and cleaner. I rarely have to sand the wood after cutting.

The Air assist is really good. I do run an exhaust vent out our window with an enclosure. It will cut 3mm wood in one pass and 6mm wood in three passes.

For the Price this machine has made us a lot of money. I was able to buy parts for it as well. I highly recommend this machine.

You know what you did... this machine is the saddest excuse for any machine in the history of human kind. 5th grade science projects are leap years ahead of this heap. Your entire development team should be given multiple felonies and locked up. The incomplete firmware only ensures it does one thing and one thing only... slam into the side of the machine and grind the stepper motors. Knowing they had this problem they should have added limit switches but they leave this to you even though they cost 0.31 cents a piece, they were to lazy to add them theirselves. They want to compete with xtool. HA!! Hilarious. Never in a million years would you even be in the same league. In fact xtool could close down shop, 50 years could go by and their first prototype would blow your 2075 PHECDA out the water. You should be ashamed of yourself and do the world a favor amd resign from your position, buy back all the machines you sold, destroy them, and try and hide this ever happened. I run multiple lasers all day everyday as a full time job, ive got 10,000 hours in lightburn alone and even more in operating and programming CO2 and fiber lasers, and I could not get this thing to work, posting on fourms got me nowhere, youtube couldnt help, elegoo wiki could not help, direct contact with elegoo could not help so I had no choice but to warn everyone who reads this post. DO NOT DO IT, dont make the same mistake, just save up a couple hundred more and get the Xtool, if you buy this thing you will lose years off your life in stress. God be with you all who did

A amazing machine for the price. Really like. Would totally recommend.

Been pretty happy so far with the phecda 20w. Only had to do a minor amount of trouble shooting to get up and running. The instructions could be a little more robust but I was able to easily find what I needed from the online community. Still kind of amazed at the price relative to other brands out there.

I got my new laser engraved and was testing my first design within a few hours. Excited to start making new things.

I have used this laser on a ton of items and stuff I never thought I would. I will say use lightburn which means cost. lasergrbl doesnt even use the machine to its full capabilities. Also my only other complaint is the filtration system. The little fan doesn't have enough umph. Im looking at 3d printing something to mount a bigger better fan and wiring it in at his point seeing if that helps or if it needs an enclosure. Aside from those few things this is a fantastic machine. Thanks elegoo

I had issues with gantry belt and didn't get much help no sample files on sd card even software for running it was not included.

I ordered this 10W directly directly from Elegoo. It came quickly and in good order. Putting it together was super easy. They even provided some good videos to help with assembly. If you're just getting started laser engraving, you'll want to order a honeycomb laser bed to protect the board you work on and to provide air flow under your product. I ordered a 500mmX500mm bed (shown in the photos) and there is still plenty of room. You'll also want to get the Lightburn software. Yes, it's $99 but it's the industry standard and nothing (that I've found) is comparable. Why did I order this machine? Last year, I purchased two of them for work, a 10W and a 20W, and I finally decided I couldn't do without one at home. There's no other machine on the market that can beat the price of either for comparable wattages. Watch out for the advertisements that tell you how much power the machine will use (like 40W) and fail to mention that the laser wattage is 5W until you see it in fine print. Elegoo has been up front on everything.

Here's a description of what you see in the photos. The odd looking clamp arrangement is just holding down an unruly board during an engraving. The cart is rigged with a 'Yi Home' camera so I can go eat lunch and still keep an eye on a long engraving. The extra lights and power to the whole cart are controlled by 'Kasa Smart Plug Lite / Mini Wifi' devices so if I see something going wrong remotely, at least I can shut down the power to the whole cart, and/or turn the light on/off. The spring holding the Air Assist hose in the back is out of a shower tension pole. Hey, it works...

I'm very happy with the purchase. What took me so long?

Up and running in an hour with 0 knowledge or experience.
Communication between lightburn and device is finicky but works from the sd card and Phecda iOS app. Hopefully I can get this communication issue resolved. Engraving one business card at a time isn’t going to cut it.
All around solid device for starting out.

I like Elegoo's other products and have owned several of their resin printers. The resin printers worked flawlessly for me, so I thought I could trust the brand.

I have not enjoyed my experience with the Phecda.

-It is heavier than it needs to be. At first, I thought this gave it a more solid look, but it just makes it more difficult to work with. It gets in the way of itself when trying to attach belts or route cables.
-The fume extraction fan/filter doesn't replace the need for real fume extraction/ventilation.
-The housing for the filter makes it harder to flip the unit over when doing maintenance.
-The orange sheet of acrylic attached by magnets falls off all the time when bumped. You will end up removing it. This makes the filter even less effective. It doesn't block line of sight to the laser at all, not that you should rely on something like that for safety. You must wear eye protection with this or any laser.
-Lack of limit switches is a major oversight.
-WiFi is useless. Yes, you should be in the same room with these things when they operate but it would have been nice to attach LightBurn without a wired connection. I want to reduce wires in my workshop any time I can. The WiFi feature only lets you connect to a phone app which cannot do much.

I had some other issues with it, and when I inquired about returning it, customer support would not supply an address to return it when asked directly, at least not yet. Communication with support is slow.

I recommend getting one from a seller with better customer service if you do want to purchase one, just in case you do decide to return it.

I have used it for a few hours now and the only thing I’d would make it perfect is limit switches and a shield around the nozzle of laser because the magnetic cover does not shield it from view at all.

First of all I want to make it Clear I have no Prior experience with a laser cutter of any kind. So I can not compare the Phecda with another known brand or make. I can say that this machine has not disappointed in anyway so far. I am using Light burn for the Program to operate It cuts everything it is known to be stated to cut. I also find that engraving is a bit harder to figure out settings than cutting is. I mostly cut so Not a big let down in learning curve frustration. I would recommend if you have the budget and want to get into laser cutting and Engraving this is a machine you might want to give a try. Just for reference I went all out and did the 20 Watt Package 2. Go big or go home approach.

Very easy to assemble with instructions provided or youtube video. I was engraving in 1hr. Little bit of a learning curve when it comes to speed power and materials, but thats to be expected. Definitely buy air assist and the work grill to protect the workspace, dissipate smoke and extend the life of the laser glass. I got the roller and it was easy to setup, but found a flaw. It has no way to support non-level (straight edge) bottles. Something should be done about that as I was not able to engrave on the 12oz wine tumblers I have.

So far so good, hopefully it lasts.

After getting the machine put together(which is not to bad as long as you follow the instructions) it is pretty straightforward to get started. The only problem i had was getting my project uploaded from the app to the machine. You have to have the SD card inserted in the machine to get the upload to complete. It tells you that a t one pointt in the manual but I must have overlooked it. The photo is my first ever engraving so all and all not bad and easy to use!

Material and construction quality seems to be very good. User setup and being able to get started right away is very lacking. A first time laser user has basically zero information on how to update the machine or even how to operate the machine to even get a test burn. The information to even get the app to work with machine is not only non existent but also deceiving about the wifi capability... The app is useless past a small test engrave... third party software is the only way and a new user will have no idea other than doing their own research. It's not a user friendly package and I think some people will be thinking they can setup and be engraving quickly like a 3d printer..

The engraver cut/burned for one month. The laser shows but it not powerful enough to burn anymore. I contacted support and they sent me replacment parts that do not work and customer support denied getting on a video call to verify that its still not working. This company will take you money and leave you high and dry. they are from china....

Great machine

The product is user-friendly, allowing for effortless assembly and configuration, facilitating immediate engraving and cutting operations.

This laser has been working fantastic, assembly went very easy (my 11 year old did most of it himself), using lightburn and BAM instant success.
My one gripe about this machine is having to unplug the Y axis to plug in the rotary option. This should have been its own connector to avoid the hassle of turning over the laser and fumbling around with tiny plugs.
Other than that it works GREAT.

I haven't bought this yet (but I want to), is this just an engraver or an actual laser cutter? I mean can it cut out shapes of metal.

First off, really amazed by the fit and finish of this thing of out of the box. The aluminum is well machined and screws thread in perfectly. Squares up really well with almost no effort. That said, I found several things baffling, that if fixed would make this a no brainer even at a slightly higher price point. First off, the box is huge, very nearly big enough to have been shipped assembled, which again, even at a higher price would aid the user experience greatly. Second, the motherboard is equipped with limit switch ports, but it doesn't have any? Such a simple addition would bring this into a another level. Without it, I find locating a target for the laser incredibly frustrating.
Add limit switches please!

I'm really not versatile to handle 3D printing yet so I settled for the Phecda Pro to migrate in a different direction. The design of this product (especially the accessories) is truly oriented towards beginners and intermediate enthusiasts. Some dexterity is needed (even with the excellent video tutorials) to assemble the belt but once that step is 'under the belt' as they say everything after is smooth sailing.

For the Pro one definitely needs the cover and perhaps some form of air purifier for sensitive noses.

If you are embarking on the Laser Etching journey, use the Phecda Pro as your companion. There are definitely more precision (a.k.a. more expensive) products but by spending a modest amount of money you will ramp up the learning curve for laser etching quickly.
